Hey, I’m Takera: Why I Started Blogging
Hi, Nice to Meet You
Hi, I’m Takera, nice to meet you. I started Flights and Foods in 2018. I immediately dove in with creating a website, researching, studying, buying some useful and cool, along with some unnecessary gadgets. Once I made up my mind to blog, I jumped in head first.
What is Flights and Foods
Flights and Foods is how I share with you my love of food, travel, and photography. I started out thinking I would document my travels on YouTube and review great restaurants along the way. If you’ve ever edited a YouTube video you already know this became a larger task than I anticipated. I became better with editing and grew a small following but I realized I was neglecting my Instagram account. Once I got into Instagram I was like, “Whoa there are other people who love food as much as I do?”

I was amazed at how large some of the foodie Instagram accounts were and how much great photography was out there. I knew I needed to improve my page, more so I wanted to improve my page. I got better equipment, I researched, I studied and I grew my Instagram account and started taking better photos. In the process I’ve met some great like-minded food lovers.
I’m sure you’re like, “Hey what happened to the Flights?” Actually nothing happened to the flights. I travel quite often with my husband. The best part is experiencing new cultures. We always make friends with locals, it’s really the best way to experience a new city or country. I take so many photos while traveling, I have a large cue, but I intend to share every photo.

Why I started Blogging
My husband and I travel internationally about three times a year. Ideally we’ll also take a domestic trip every three months or so. Often friends and family would ask, “Ooo, where was that picture taken?”, or “I’m going to (insert city, state, or country), where should I go eat?” We really got the question so often I thought it was a good idea to share everything in one place. Now I can just answer with, “Check out my blog!”
I also selfishly started a blog for myself. I have loved photography ever since I can remember. Flipping through family albums was always my favorite pastime. I would sneak my mom’s polaroid to snap a photo whenever I got a chance. Then when I turned about eleven or twelve, I discovered disposable cameras and pharmacy photo developing. Now as an adult I’m proud to own a camera with removable lenses (fancy).
Documenting my favorite restaurants, attractions, hotels, beaches, preserves my experiences for myself and gives me a place of reference for return visits.
What I Hope For
I simply enjoy good food. I love photography. I have a passion for helping people. I find comfort in telling stories.
Through my enjoyment, love, passion, and comfort I hope to be of service to others. I hope someone eats where I ate, sleeps where I slept, sees what I saw…and has a great experience.
