Carla Hall Hosts a New Cooking Competition
Charitable Donations and Cooking Competitions Come Together
What do you get when you mix a cooking competition with American Idol? Favorite Chef. Favorite Chef is an online cooking competition where fans can vote for their favorite chef and donate to charity all at the same time.
Chef Carla Hall first lit up our television screens with her bubbly personality when she competed on Bravo’s Top Chef. Since then Carla has appeared on numerous cooking and competition shows such as Food Network’s Halloween Baking Championship, Holiday Baking Championship, and Worst Cooks in America. Daytime viewers got to know Carla on her seven years co-hosting the Emmy-winning show The Chew. Now, in partnership with Colossal, Carla Hall is hosting 2023’s Favorite Chef.
The World’s Next Favorite Chef
The Favorite Chef competition is open to all culinary creators. The winner is rewarded not only with the opportunity to win the hearts of fans across the world, but a grand prize of $25,000, a chance to cook side-by-side with Chef Carla Hall at the new Platform by James Beard Foundation at Pier 57, and a sponsored feature in Taste of Home magazine. If that is not motivation enough to whip up a winning dish, educational workshops are presented by Colossal throughout the competition. The potentially tens of thousands of home cooks, chefs, and culinary creators in the competition can take advantage of programs on business, social media, and community impact from a culinary perspective.

Colossal manages competitions with the goal of raising funds for charitable organizations. For 2023 the Favorite Chef competition will ultimately benefit the James Beard Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a mission “that celebrates and supports the people behind America’s food culture, while pushing for new standards in the restaurant industry to create a future where all have the opportunity to thrive.” The James Beard Foundation runs community initiatives, hosts culinary programs throughout the year, and presents the James Beard Awards annually.
This interactive competition allows fans to make donations when they vote for their favorite chef. In 2021 the Favorite Chef competition raised $1.1 Million for Feeding America, which provided over 11 million meals to those who needed them during the pandemic. Whether you are a caterer, chef, or home cook, if you are ready to show off your skills and become the next Favorite Chef register to enter online.
