2fifty Texas BBQ: One of the Best BBQ Restaurants in the DC Area
I came across 2fifty Texas BBQ back in January when they tagged me in an Instagram post. Racks, on racks, on racks of glistening spare ribs. I grew up with my mom throwing meat on the grill whether it was eight or eighty degrees outside. Needless to say, I am a lover of good barbecue (BBQ). I live in Washington DC, but pretty much on the border of DC and Maryland, so making my way over to Riverdale, MD to 2fifty was not a problem.
Fernando González started cooking back in El Salvador. He has been cooking BBQ professionally since 2007, training in Austin Texas. When I first visited Fernando and his wife Debby at 2fifty it was actually inside Dumm’s Pizza, which they also own. I also had the opportunity to meet Fernando’s brother Moses, who also works in the family business. 2fifty started as Sunday only BBQ inside Dumm’s Pizza, which was regularly closed on Sundays.

What Does Dumm’s Pizza Have to Do with BBQ?
Since my first visit, 2fifty has opened in its own brick and mortar right next to Dumm’s Pizza. Their new location is covered with beautiful artwork from local artists. The space inside is huge and thoughtfully decorated. There is a designated area for picking up preorders. Outside there are large spacious picnic tables, with ample parking.
In a recent Instagram post on the 2fifty Texas page, they tell the story of Dumm’s. The building was built in the early 1900s. “Out of respect for those who were visionary enough to invest and try to develop Route 1 in times past,” the González family maintains the original building name. “We are honored to continue the tradition of independent family-operated businesses on Route 1.” (Read the full Instagram post here.)

2fifty beef ribs are a must for me. I order them every time I visit. They aren’t only huge, these ribs are juicy. 2fifty is one of the few local BBQ restaurants that offer beef ribs. The pork ribs and brisket also aren’t anything to sleep on either. The wagyu brisket almost melts in your mouth. All of the meats are wood smoked to perfection, flavorful, and juicy. All key elements of great BBQ.

2fifty Texas BBQ is located at 4700 Riverdale Road, Riverdale Park, MD 20737.
*In addition to their Maryland location, you can now find 2fifty Texas BBQ in Mt. Vernon DC Wednesday – Monday from 11 – 8p (or until sold out, and YES, it’s that good). Follow @2fiftytexasbbq for updates on all things at their new location.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he actually bought me lunch as I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch! “Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.” by Sir Arthur Eddington.

My developer is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on several websites for about a year and am worried about switching to another platform. I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net.
