The Mountains of Colorado

Colorado is known for its beautiful mountain peaks. Many photographers, skiers, and snow lovers in general make their way to Colorado every year to enjoy the view.

Colorado has 58 “Fourteeners,” 58 Rocky Mountain peaks that rise more than 14,000 feet above sea level. Making Colorado the tallest state.

Mount Elbert is the tallest mountain in Colorado, at 14,440 feet.

From Mount Evans, views of the surrounding ranges and valleys capture the sheer greatness of the Rocky Mountains themselves. The drive over Mount Evans leads you along the highest paved road in the United States.

The road up to Mount Evans is closed and impassible due to snow from Labor Day (September) to Memorial Day (May).

With a reflective lake to reflect the beauty of the peaks, the Maroon Bells sister mountains are a photographer’s dream.

Rocky Mountain National Park’s Longs Peak,
Pikes Peak, the Maroon Bells, Mount Evans, and Mount Sneffels are some of Colorado’s most popular and most photographed mountains.

Add Colorado to your list of travel destinations.
